Brett was born in Cairns [North Queensland] to Joan and Mervyn Hayhoe in 1966. He has four sisters: Lynn, Kim, Rae and Tanya, and lived in Cairns for 34 years prior to moving to Melbourne.

"I do not regret anything about moving to Melbourne. I totally LOVE this city and do not want to live anywhere else in the world".

One of the most pleasant parts about living in the most cultural city in the land is the wonderful people I have met.

Since moving to Victoria, and after a short battle with Cancer, I decided to play my part in the community by serving on several boards - including one National. These include Pride March Victoria, PLWHA (Vic), AHAG, Alfred Hospital HIV/AIDS Care Committee, the David Williams Fund, PLC Reference Committee, the Michael Masters Fund and NAPWA.

At the end of 2006, I was honoured to be elected President of PLWHA (Vic). I am also Secretary of Pride March Victoria and AHAG.
